A new series of morning meditation classes at the Old Town Hall in Carlisle – designed for those seeking happiness from a different source.
As we grow older, we may wonder how we will cope with changes in our life and, naturally, become more fearful and anxious about our future. It can be helpful to reflect on these kinds of worries so that we have time to prepare some inner protection and strength in advance.
Buddha taught how to overcome our daily problems such as worry, anger, feeling unwell or tired and feeling upset when our wishes are not fulfilled and things are not going to plan. He explained that we can use our life, instead, to love and to help others by developing wisdom so that we can always feel happy and help others to feel happy too. Through the power of controlling our mind, we can still be peaceful and positive even in our worst moments. The method to do this is by learning to meditate.
During this four week course our teacher, Gen Kelsang Dema, will explain simple meditations to calm and strengthen our mind and prepare some inner protection for times in our life that are challenging.
This class is suitable for everyone – including those who are older and would like to find peace of mind, as well as younger people looking for respite from the busyness of daily life. You don’t have to be Buddhist to benefit from these classes.
