Heart Jewel with guided meditation

A beautiful prayer practice designed to help us receive inspiration and protection from enlightened beings. A special practice for developing wisdom, and spiritual strength by relying on the Wisdom Buddha Je Tsongkhapa, and for overcoming obstacles and difficulties on the spiritual path by relying on his Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden.

In the middle of the prayers we will pause for 20 minutes to follow a meditation from Mirror of Dharma with Additions by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, which will be read out by an experienced practitioner.

Wishfulfilling Jewel Prayers with Food Offerings

By engaging in the Guru yoga practised in conjunction with Je Tsongkhapa we can purify negativity, accumulate merit and receive blessings, and attain a very special compassion, wisdom and spiritual strength.

By relying upon the Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden we can overcome obstacles to our practice and create favourable conditions so that we can nurture and increase our spiritual realizations.

These two practices are the very essence of Kadampa Buddhism. Each Friday morning we engage in this peaceful practice and make food offerings. Everyone is welcome to attend. Just drop in.

Melodious Drum Prayers

Melodious Drum puja is recommended for experienced practitioners only.

This monthly practice consists principally of prayers to our Dharma Protector, Dorje Shugden. A Dharma Protector is an emanation of a Buddha or Bodhisattva whose main functions are to avert the inner and outer obstacles that prevent practitioners from attaining spiritual realizations, and to arrange all the necessary conditions for their practice. Dorje Shugden always helps, guides, and protects pure and faithful practitioners by granting blessings, increasing their wisdom, fulfilling their wishes and bestowing success on all their virtuous activities. This practice includes a tsog offering so you can bring a vegetarian food offering with you if you wish. (3.5 hours).

Mahayana Precepts

The practice of taking and keeping the eight Mahayana precepts is a special practice of moral discipline that is performed with bodhichitta, the compassionate wish to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. The essence of this practice is taking eight precepts and keeping them purely for twenty-four hours. We first need to receive these precepts from a qualified Preceptor, and then we can take them on our own as often as we wish. Instructions on both these methods are included in the prayer booklet  A Pure Life. Because this practice is motivated by bodhichitta it is especially powerful for purifying negativities, accumulating merit—a positive strength of mind—and creating the cause for us to attain the unsurpassed happiness of enlightenment.

This purifying practice is done on the 15th day of each month at 6.30am. If you wish to join us it is helpful for us to know in advance please.
